TO: Division Superintendents
FROM: Patricia I. Wright, Superintendent of Public Instruction
Please join school facilities professionals throughout Virginia in attending the 6th annual Virginia School Plant Managers Association (VSPMA) conference. The theme this year is “Navigating the Future.” School facilities personnel are relied upon more than ever to keep schools operating efficiently and to navigate the myriad maintenance challenges to meet the needs of today’s learners and educators. This year's event will feature 30 professional learning sessions on security, efficiency, sustainability, predictive maintenance, financial alternatives and asset management.
The conference will be held October 20-23, 2013, in Norfolk, Virginia. Attendance at the conference includes school division membership in VSPMA. Students from VSPMA member school divisions will be eligible to apply for VSPMA scholarships to further their education beyond high school. In addition, the prestigious and nationally recognized Facilities Masters Award will be awarded to three Virginia school divisions that have completed the rigorous application process. I encourage you to send your division’s facility personnel to this affordable and educational event and to support VSPMA’s efforts.
The full conference schedule and online registration forms are available on VSPMA’s Web site at www.vspma.org.
