Superintendent’s Memo #047-14

State seal, Commonwealth of Virginia

COMMONWEALTH of VIRGINIA
Department of Education

February 21, 2014

TO:  Division Superintendents

FROM:  Patricia I. Wright, Superintendent of Public Instruction

SUBJECT:  Reporting Assessment Results for Workplace Readiness Skills for the Commonwealth

The Office of Career and Technical Education (CTE), in collaboration with the Career and Technical Education Consortium of States (CTECS), has eliminated the need for school divisions to report the Workplace Readiness Skills for the Commonwealth Examination (WRS) assessment results.  As last year, the WRS examination results will be reported directly to the Virginia Department of Education from CTECS after each school division verifies the examination results.  The data verification window will be open from March 1 – June 30, 2014. The verified data will be included on the Virginia School Report Card.

Under a separate cover, CTECS will provide division CTE administrators details regarding the timeline and procedures for verifying WRS testing results for the 2013-2014 school year.  It will be the responsibility of each school division to verify the accuracy of the data within the verification window and parameters set by CTECS.

If you have any questions, please contact Joseph Wharff, industry credentialing specialist, at CTE@doe.virginia.gov, or by telephone at 804-225-3370; or George Willcox, CTE coordinator, Office of Career and Technical Education Services, by telephone at 804-225-2052.
