COMMONWEALTH of VIRGINIA
Department of Education
February 28, 2014
TO: Division Superintendents
FROM: Patricia I. Wright, Superintendent of Public Instruction
During October and November 2013, the Virginia Department of Education asked all public schools to participate in a statewide test of Internet connection speeds. Schools and buildings housing regional and specialty education programs were asked to conduct 10 connection speed tests at different times over several days. The test was intended to reflect how students and teachers use the Internet on a regular basis.
A summary of results from the statewide test is presented in an information brief located at http://www.doe.virginia.gov/support/technology/edtech_plan/index.shtml. In addition, division level reports will be sent via e-mail to division superintendents and technology directors no later than March 7, 2014.
If you have questions, please contact Gail Warren, project coordinator, by telephone at (757) 470-3017 or via e-mail at email@example.com.
