The 2014 Virginia Pupil Transportation conference, sponsored by the Virginia Association for Pupil Transportation (VAPT) and supported by the Department of Education (DOE), will be held at the Marriott Norfolk Waterside Hotel in Norfolk, June 16 – 19, 2014.
Information regarding the details of the conference has been sent to the pupil transportation director in your school division. Registration is scheduled for Monday, June 16, beginning at 11 a.m. Virginia’s Best School Bus Technician competition will be held on Monday. The annual road-e-o for regular and special needs bus drivers will be held on Wednesday.
The conference will include New Directors Training as required by the Regulations Governing Pupil Transportation, on Sunday and Monday, and a Recertification class for School Bus Driver Trainers will be held on Monday through Wednesday. Four of the National Association for Pupil Transportation (NAPT) classes will be held. Some of the workshops include Homeless Transportation, Freedom of Information Act, Special Education/Autism, School Bus Safety, Security, and Emergency Preparedness. Exhibitors will be present to discuss their products with drivers, technicians, and directors.
A special invitation is extended to division superintendents and other school personnel involved with or interested in pupil transportation. Registration information is contained in the package that was sent to your pupil transportation director and is also posted on the VAPT Web site at: http://www.vapt.org.
