SUBJECT: Teacher Appreciation Week in Virginia May 4-8, 2015

On behalf of the Department of Education I am pleased to announce that Governor Terence R. McAuliffe has signed a Certificate of Recognition proclaiming May 4-8, 2015, as Teacher Appreciation Week in the Commonwealth of Virginia.  I hope that you and others throughout your community will join me in acknowledging the tireless efforts of our teachers across the Commonwealth.

Teachers are essential to the growth and development of our children and the Commonwealth takes great pride in recognizing and celebrating the important role they play. The full text of the Governor’s Certificate of Recognition announcing Teacher Appreciation Week is attached.

The VDOE will be tweeting #ThankATeacher messages all week long – please join with us by following @VDOE_news.  I hope that you and other officials in your division will celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week by planning a special community event and that you will take time out to #ThankATeacher next week.
