SUBJECT: TeacherDirect and Back-to-School Convocations

In 2013, the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) launched TeacherDirect, an online and e-mail service to provide Standards of Learning (SOL) resources and information directly to educators.  As we begin the new school year, VDOE encourages schools to include these resources in planning back-to-school events.

The TeacherDirect page of the VDOE Web site provides an informational video, promotional flier, and directions on how to subscribe to the weekly e-mail updates.  This resource is not limited to classroom teachers: school administrators, central office staff, and other educational stakeholders also may subscribe to TeacherDirect using multiple e-mail addresses.

The weekly e-mails carry the subject line “VDOE TeacherDirect.” As messages will come from a VDOE vendor not directly from the Department, school divisions may need to take steps to allow the updates to pass through Internet firewalls.  Information that should be “whitelisted” to allow for receipt by division personnel are:
