On February 25, 2016, the Virginia Board of Education approved the ACT WorkKeys Reading for Information test as an additional substitute test for verified credit in reading. A list of all tests approved as Standards of Learning (SOL) substitute tests for verified credit is on the Department of Education’s Web site at http://doe.virginia.gov/testing/substitute_tests/index.shtml. The additional test and newly adopted cut scores for pass/proficient and pass/advanced are in bold print.
The ACT WorkKeys Reading for Information test is available for use immediately for students who need a verified credit in reading. Scores for the ACT WorkKeys Reading for Information test will be used in calculating state accreditation; however, this test is not currently approved for use in federal accountability.
Questions regarding this information should be directed to student assessment staff at Student_Assessment@doe.virginia.gov or (804) 225-2102.
