The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) in collaboration with the Virginia Department of Health will conduct an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Educational Program Guidelines Update Course for high school instructors on Monday, July 25, 2016, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Virginia Beach Resort and Conference Center. Participants will be provided an in-depth overview of the Revised High School Based Emergency Medical Technician Educational Program Guidelines. The guidelines were developed jointly with the Office of Emergency Medical Services to unify state and national standards, establish consistent EMT program standards, to ensure high-quality programs are implemented in high schools and technical centers throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia.
There is no registration fee for this course but pre-registration is required and must be completed by June 3, 2016. Space is limited and slots will be assigned on a first received basis.
The VDOE will sponsor the course facilitator and instructional materials. Participants are responsible for all meals, travel-related expenses, and lodging, if needed. This is an allowable expenditure of federal Perkins funds if included in the approved local career and technical education plan.
