## SUBJECT: Board of Education Approved a Passing Score for the Praxis Algebra I (5162) Test for the Mathematics – Algebra I (Add-on) Endorsement

On February 23, 2017, the Virginia Board of Education approved the use of the Educational Testing Service Praxis Algebra I (5162) test as an option to add the Mathematics – Algebra I (add-on) endorsement to a teaching license in accordance with the *Licensure Regulations for School Personnel* and set the following passing score for the test. __This test cannot be used as an assessment for initial licensure; the test may only be used to add the Mathematics – Algebra I (add-on) endorsement as specified below.__

Taking the Praxis Algebra I (5162) test to add the Algebra I (add-on) endorsement only applies to individuals who hold an active (1) Collegiate Professional or Postgraduate Professional License or (2) Provisional License leading to a Collegiate Professional or Postgraduate Professional License if the testing requirement for the initial endorsement has been met. You may refer to the *Licensure Regulations for School Personnel* for detailed information on adding an endorsement by testing.
