2017 Capital One Coders Regional Events – Save the Date

To encourage and support STEM education in Virginia, Capital One and Virginia Secretary of Technology, Karen Jackson, have partnered together to bring Capital One Coders Experience to middle school girls across the state.

This statewide initiative is a free, fun, and interactive day open to all girls in grades 6, 7, and 8.  No prior skillset is needed, only a desire to explore creative possibilities.  The experience will provide students with a unique glimpse into a career in technology.  Girls will be introduced to problem solving, team work, and basic principles of software development in hands-on environments in each of the Virginia Regions.  This special one-day program teaches students how to create their own mobile applications using MIT App Inventor. At the end of the day, student teams will unveil their creations to a group of judges who will select the top 2-3 teams to attend the Capital One’s Annual Women in Technology Summit on November 15, 2017, at the Greater Richmond Convention Center where they will continue their coding-rich experience and hear from inspirational female professionals in technology.

Additional information about the Capital One Coders Experience such as dates and locations are available as Attachment A of this memorandum.  Any questions should be directed to Capital One by email at capitalonecoders@capitalone.com.
