2019 Commemoration Educational Resources from AMERICAN EVOLUTION™, a Sub-Agency of the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation, Inc.
The Virginia Department of Education is pleased to announce educational resources for the 2019 Commemoration from AMERICAN EVOLUTION™, a Sub-Agency of the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation, Inc. AMERICAN EVOLUTION™ commemorates the 400th anniversary of several key historical events that occurred in Virginia in 1619 that continue to influence America today. Featured events, programs, and legacy projects inspire local, national, and international engagement in the themes of democracy, diversity, and opportunity. New educational resources about the historic events of 1619 are now available. Many students are familiar with the events that took place in Virginia in 1607, but do they know the significance of 1619 to Virginia and American history.
AMERICAN EVOLUTION™ has created digital resources and curriculum that make it easy to bring the legacy of 1619 to life in the classroom. A team of Virginia master teachers developed lesson plans that can supplement classroom instruction. Follow the AMERICAN EVOLUTION™ Education webpage and learn more about these new free curriculum resources. Visit their Facebook and Twitter pages.
