2018 Virginia Pupil Transportation Conference, June 17-21, 2018

The 2018 Virginia Pupil Transportation Conference, sponsored by the Virginia Association for Pupil Transportation (VAPT) and supported by the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE), will be held at the Sheraton Roanoke Hotel and Conference Center in Roanoke, June 17-21, 2018.

Information regarding the details of the conference has been sent to the pupil transportation director in your school division. Registration is scheduled for Sunday night from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. as well as on Monday, beginning at 10 a.m. The Virginia’s Best Bus Technician competition and the School Bus Road-e-o for regular and special needs bus drivers will be held on Monday.

On Tuesday, the Trade Show will be held at the Berglund Center (formerly the Roanoke Civic Center). The Trade Show gives individuals an opportunity to talk with vendors about their products and services and to see buses from the three bus dealers in Virginia.

Wednesday is a full day of sessions that will cover topics such as Autism, Child Safety Restraints, as well as a class for certification on Reasonable Suspicion relating to drug and alcohol use indicators and testing of school bus drivers. Additionally, round table discussions will be held on various topics of interest to transportation directors, supervisors, and trainers.

A special invitation is extended to division superintendents and other school personnel involved with or interested in pupil transportation.  A package with registration information was sent to your pupil transportation director and is also posted on the VAPT website at:  http://www.vapt.orgThis link takes you out of the Virginia Department of Education website.
