Biography: David L. Johnson
David L. Johnson was appointed to the Board of Education in July 2003 by Governor Mark R. Warner and reappointed in July 2007 by Governor Timothy M. Kaine. He is chairman of the board's Committee on School and Division Accountability.
Mr. Johnson was executive director of the Virginia Education Association from 1973 to 2000. During his career in public education, Mr. Johnson was assistant supervisor for secondary education with the Virginia Department of Education, the principal of Goochland High School in Goochland County and a teacher and school counselor in Fluvanna County.
Mr. Johnson holds a Bachelor of Arts from Lynchburg College and a Master of Education Administration from the University of Virginia.
