Consolidating the Proprietary Schools Advisory Committees and Appointing Committee Members

WHEREAS, the Code of Virginia, provides for the establishing of advisory committees to make recommendations to the Board of Education; and
WHEREAS, the Board previously appointed members to the Proprietary Schools Advisory Committee for the purpose of recommending to the Board of Education regulations to carry out the purposes of Chapter 16 of Title 22 of the Code of Virginia Section 22.1-322, including the development of new or expanded programs of instruction in proprietary schools; and
WHEREAS, the Board previously appointed members to the Student Tuition Guaranty Fund Advisory Committee to advise the Superintendent of Public Instruction concerning the operation of the Student Tuition Guaranty Fund; and
WHEREAS, the tasks charged to both advisory committees can be consolidated into a reasonable amount of work for one committee;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of Education that the two Proprietary School Advisory Committees will be consolidated into one committee called Proprietary School Advisory Committee and charged with carrying out the purposes of Chapter 16 of Title 22 of the Code of Virginia Section 22.1-322, including the Student Tuition Guaranty Fund. The recommended appointees to Proprietary Schools Advisory Committee are Cordell Briggs, William Butler, Betty Dierstein, Christine Jaap, Jack Kotvas, Robert McNeeley, Ann Perry, Bishnu Poudel, and Mark Singer.
