Establishing Additional Industry, Professional, or Trade Association Certifications for the Board of Education’s Career and Technical Education Seal, the Board of Education’s Seal of Advanced Mathematics and Technology, and the Student-Selected Verified Credit
Resolution Number 2002-8

WHEREAS, the Regulations Establishing Standards for Accrediting Public Schools in Virginia, Requirements for graduation 8 VAC 20-131-50.I.3, provide students who demonstrate academic excellence and/or outstanding achievement the opportunity to earn a Board of Education’s Career and Technical Education Seal; and
WHEREAS, the Regulations Establishing Standards for Accrediting Public Schools in Virginia, Requirements for graduation 8 VAC 20-131-50.I.4, provide students who demonstrate academic excellence and/or outstanding achievement the opportunity to earn a Board of Education’s Seal of Advanced Mathematics and Technology; and
WHEREAS, the Regulations Establishing Standards for Accrediting Public Schools in Virginia, 8 VAC 20-131-110.B, makes provisions relative to students earning verified units of credit; and
WHEREAS, in October 2000 the Board approved the initial list of industry, professional, and trade association certifications to meet the requirements for the Board’s Career and Technical Education Seal and the Board’s Seal of Advanced Mathematics and Technology; and
WHEREAS, in April 2001 the Board approved the initial list of industry, professional, and trade association certifications to meet the requirements for the student-selected verified credit;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Education that the attached additional industry certifications and additional examinations are approved by the board for diploma seals and for the student-selected verified credit.
