Ed Tech Formula Grants
Ed Tech Formula Allocations
Under the Ed Tech Program (Title II, Part D of ESEA), the U.S. Department of Education (USED) provides formula grants to states for distribution to eligible school divisions to meet the following goals:
- Raise student achievement through the use of technology in elementary and secondary instruction;
- Narrow and close the digital divide by ensuring that every student is technologically literate by the end of eighth grade; and
- Promote effective integration of technology, teacher training and curriculum development.
Recipients must use at least 25 percent of their funds to provide ongoing, sustained and intensive, high-quality professional development in the integration of advanced technologies, including emerging technologies, into curricula and instruction and in using those technologies to create new learning environments. This requirement does not apply if the recipient demonstrates that it already provides professional development, which is based on a review of relevant research, to all teachers in core academic subjects.
