SUBJECT: Literary Contest: “From Struggle to Triumph
to Tomorrow”
The
Virginia Civil Rights Memorial Symposium Sub-committee is pleased to present
the “From Struggle to Triumph to Tomorrow” Literary Contest, which is open to
all students in grades 9 through 12. The Civil Rights Memorial will be
unveiled in late July 2008 on
In
an effort in encourage youth understanding and involvement, a literary contest
for high school students has been incorporated as a part of the
symposium. Students will respond to a literary prompt, and they may
submit both essays and poems. Previously
published works are ineligible.
The
first place prize is $1,000, and the deadline is May 30, 2008. Additional
