of Compliance with the Regulations
Governing Reduction of State Aid When Length of School Term Below 180 Days or
990 Teaching Hours |
Section
§ 22.1-98 of the Code of Virginia governs the reduction of school aid when the
length of the school term is below 180 days or 990 hours. This section of the Code includes a
requirement that the division superintendent and chairman of the local school
board are required to certify the total number of teaching days and hours each
year as part of their annual report to the Board of Education.
In
addition, the Board of Education’s Regulations Governing Reduction of State Aid
When Length of School Term Below 180 Days or 990 Teaching Hours, 8 VAC 20-520-5
et seq., require that local school division superintendents certify by April 15
of each year that they have read and complied with these provisions and are
implementing a plan for making up any missed time that has not been waived in
accordance with the regulations. In
order for you to provide the certification related to the Board’s regulations,
we have attached a Statement Affirming Compliance with the Board’s Regulations
Governing Reduction of State Aid When Length of School Term Below 180 Days or
990 Teaching Hours. Please complete,
sign and mail this form by April 15, 2008, to the Division of Policy and
