IDQ - Level 1 Coursework
Improving Education Data Part I
Creating a Foundation and Improving Education
12 hours Professional Development Credits Awarded upon Completion
The first of two online self-paced courses was created within the SIF Association’s SIFA University course delivery tool. The SIF Association is a unique, non-profit collaboration composed of over 2,300 schools, districts, states, US and International Ministries of Education, software vendors and consultants who collectively define the rules and regulations for educational software data interoperability. The SIF Implementation Specification enables diverse applications to interact and share data efficiently, reliably, and securely regardless of the platform hosting those applications. The SIF Association has united these education technology end users and providers in an unprecedented effort to give teachers more time to do what they do best: teach. For further information, visit www.sifassociation.org.
The course is based upon the Forum’s Data Quality Curriculum Task Force’s curriculum resource. It is available free of charge to LEAs or anyone interested in taking the courses. Providing professional development for LEAs around quality data is vital in analyzing longitudinal data and ultimately improving teaching and learning. The course is designed to be either instructor-led or self-paced and incorporates activities, discussions, presentations, and support materials. To access the course, visit www.sifinfo.org/sifau.asp, and follow the "How to get started" instructions provided in a prior link.
The four lessons in this course concentrate on concepts related to creating a culture of quality data.
A. establishing a culture of quality data,
B. assessing your local education agency’s data quality,
C. classifying education data and
D. examining security and confidentiality.
