ESOL - English for Speakers of Other Languages
English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Programs consist of instruction designed to increase the English proficiency of limited English-speaking (LEP) adults in reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Many programs also include civics related instructional activities focusing on health, family, and financial literacy.Accountability
Funding & Reports
The Office of Adult Education makes funds available for grants to support adult basic education and literacy workforce development activities. Funding is provisional and dependent on passage of a new Congressional budget and approval of the OAEL state plan. Additional state funds are used to supplement federal grants.
