Instructional Consultation Teams (ICT)
IC Teams are school-level problem solving teams that focus on improving and enhancing staff competence as a route to both systems improvement and positive individual student outcomes. Professional development is provided through the Virginia Department of Education’s Training and Technical Assistance Centers with the bulk of the training being provided in the staff’s school. The IC model was developed at the University of Maryland under the leadership of Dr. Sylvia Rosenfield and Dr. Todd Gravois. Virginia began training its first schools in the model during the 1999-2000 school year and VDOE currently provides technical assistance and support to more than 30 schools.
