Textbooks & Instructional Materials
News & Announcements
Foreign Language Textbooks – On March 26, 2015 the Virginia Board of Education voted to discontinue the state level review of foreign language textbooks for this review cycle. Local school divisions may continue to adopt foreign language textbooks using the Guidelines for Local Textbook Approval (PDF). Sample correlation forms are available for local school divisions to use in reviewing foreign language textbooks.
The Board of Education has the responsibility under the state constitution to approve textbooks for use in Virginia's public schools. Local school boards may adopt textbooks that are not on the board-approved list provided the school board selects such books in accordance with regulations promulgated by the board.
