Science Profiles & Worksheets
During the spring and summer of 2003, a statewide team of Virginia science teachers and curriculum specialists reviewed elementary, middle, and high school science textbooks. In this process, the team verified publisher Science Standards of Learning correlations and five additional key science education criteria. The statewide team reached a consensus at its July 2003 review meeting in Richmond and made recommendations for each of the textbooks. The team's recommendations were presented to the Virginia Board of Education on October 22, 2003. After receiving public comment about these instructional materials, the Board approved the list of recommended textbooks at its January 2004 meeting.
