Online Provider Application
Applications for the 2014-2015 school year may be submitted beginning January 2, 2014. Applications must be received by 5 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on February 3, 2014.
An application must be completed by each provider seeking approval to become a multidivision online provider. Applications must include all the information requested by the Virginia Department of Education and in the form and by the date requested. Incomplete applications will not be considered. The Virginia Department of Education will provide the applicant with a written decision regarding the approval or denial of the application within 45 business days of the close of the application period.
Providers will be approved generally, but each course they wish to provide must be aligned with Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL) and Career and Technical Education Competencies where applicable. Course titles must include the SOL or CTE Competency. For each approved provider, a list of approved courses will also be made available. Previously approved providers may choose to submit additional courses for approval during the application window.
Local school boards in Virginia, if they so desire, may enter into contracts with any approved multidivision online provider to provide approved, courses. Elective courses may also be provided if there are no Virginia standards or competencies for the subject.
Multidivision online providers approved in 2011 are subject to a full review of their online program based on the Criteria for Approval of Multidivision Online Providers approved by the Virginia Board of Education on November 18, 2010. Applicants must submit only updated information to the four parts of their application approved in 2011. The updated information to any of the four parts of the application and supplemental material must be submitted as email attachments in the specified format to firstname.lastname@example.org by 5 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on February 3, 2014. Please do not resubmit the original files submitted to us in 2011. We are seeking updates or changes to your program since 2011. To make the process as efficient as possible, the updates to any of the four parts of the application should be sent separately using the four application files available on this website. Supplemental materials may be sent together or separately – email attachments should not exceed 5 MB. If you have previously informed us, via email or other means, of name changes or personnel changes since 2011, please submit an updated part I application form (affidavit) that shows the new organizational name and/or contact person.
In lieu of an SOL correlation form, a correlation report from a third-party correlation service must be submitted for each new course that a multidivision online provider would like to have approved for use in Virginia and for all courses approved more than two years ago. All correlation reports must be included among the supplemental materials submitted with updates to any of the four parts of the application.
If there are no updates that require the submission of an updated application form or your organization does not have any new or previously approved courses that require a correlation report, please send an email to email@example.com to indicate that status. In the email also indicate whether or not your organization desires to remain as an approved multidivision online provider. A lack of email response will not result in automatic renewal as an approved multidivision online provider.
The application consists of four separate parts. Correlation reports from a third-party correlation service that verifies Virginia SOL alignment for all SOL courses that are being submitted for approval should be submitted with an application. Applicable forms showing Career and Technical Education (CTE) Competency alignment for all CTE courses that are being submitted for approval should also be completed (see correlation forms below) and submitted with an application.
