Announcement of the ARRA Equipment Assistance Grant Awards
ARRA INFORMATION FROM STATE SUPERINTENDENT PATRICIA I. WRIGHT
The Department of Education (VDOE) is pleased to announce the recipients of the Equipment Assistance Grants for school nutrition programs available under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA). The attached spreadsheet lists (XLS) the total grant funds awarded to school divisions and the funds awarded to the specific school sites within the divisions. The award process was competitive and therefore not every school division or school site was awarded funds. The funds may only be used to purchase the specific equipment indicated on the grant application. Grant awards will be paid on a reimbursement basis.
VDOE received over $11 million dollars in requests for the $1,871,114 allocated to Virginia under ARRA.
A grant acceptance form (Word) indicating the school division's intent to accept this grant award for each site must be signed by the division superintendent and returned to the VDOE, Office of School Nutrition Programs, by June 19, 2009. The acceptance form is attached to this e-mail and may be faxed, mailed, or e-mailed to:

School divisions that do not submit the Grant Acceptance Form by June 19, 2009, will forfeit the division's grant award.
