Education Jobs Fund Application Update

I wanted to update you on the status of Virginia’s application to receive funding from the federal Education Jobs Fund program. Leading up to the September 9, 2010, application deadline to the U.S. Department of Education (USED), VDOE continues to work with the Virginia Department of Planning and Budget and the Governor’s Office on compiling the application and in providing staff support on policy decisions necessary to finalize the application.
I will provide you with school division funding allocations as soon as possible once pending decisions that affect the allocations are made at the state level. In the meantime, I encourage you to continue to review the USED program guidance to familiarize yourself with requirements of the program. Please keep in mind the one-time availability of these funds as you begin planning for their use locally. As additional information becomes available, I will provide that to you as soon as possible.
