Parent Resource Center (PRC)
Subgrant Funding for Parent Resource Center (PRC)
The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) recognizes the impact that a well-established special education PRC can have on insuring that parents are informed of their rights and responsibilities related to the special education processes outlined in the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEA 2004) and the Regulations Governing Special Education Programs for Children with Disabilities in Virginia and, as such, have a direct impact on increasing outcomes for students with disabilities.
Therefore, VDOE has set aside a limited pool of funds to assist PRCs in continuing to staff the center and/or developing and implementing activities/products centered on students and families with disabilities. These subgrant award funds are available only by application to the VDOE. In that these funds are extremely limited, they will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
2018-2019 Funding
VDOE has set aside a limited pool of funds to assist PRCs, which due to budgetary considerations, had to cut or reduce its local funding for staffing of special education parent resource centers (PRCs) for the 2018-2019 school year. Refer to each application for amounts and requirements.
