Teaching in Virginia
The University of Virginia is hosting a free K-12 Educators’ Expo PK-12 Job and Interview fair on Friday, February 10 (the snow date is February 24). Interested candidates must attend the job fair from 9 a.m. to noon to schedule interviews between noon and 5 p.m. The event is open to anyone interested in K-12 teaching, school counseling, speech language pathology, or administration (even those who have no affiliation with UVa). More than 80 divisions and organizations will be represented.
The Virginia Department of Education licenses teachers and administrators according to regulations adopted by the Board of Education. The department also administers regulations governing educator preparation programs to ensure that teachers enter the classroom with content knowledge and instructional skills aligned to the Standards of Learning and other objectives for learning and achievement.
The department also administers programs to help school divisions recruit and retain highly qualified teachers and recognize instructional excellence.
TeacherDirect provides a direct line of communication with classroom teachers and educators. TeacherDirect includes information about new instructional resources created by VDOE staff as well professional development and grant opportunities, and other information of special interest to teachers and their students.
