Interdisciplinary Curriculum Models for Teacher Preparation Programs
As part of a three-year Teacher Quality Enhancement grant, VDOE awarded subgrants to Old Dominion University (ODU) and Longwood University to develop curriculum models incorporating high-quality interdisciplinary approaches in teacher preparation programs.
Models
Longwood University developed two models:
- Longwood University Interdisciplinary Middle School Teacher Preparation Model (PDF)
Information on model that prepares middle school teachers with a concentration in mathematics, science, English, and/or history and social science. - Longwood University Interdisciplinary Special Education Teacher Preparation Model (PDF)
Information on model that leads to graduates that are highly qualified, licensed and endorsed in Special Education K-12 LD, E/BD, mild MR, and Elementary Education K-6.
ODU developed one model:
- ODU Interdisciplinary Elementary School Teacher Preparation Model (PDF)
Information to enhance the preparation of elementary teachers in mathematics, science, English, and history and social sciences.
