Review of the K-12 Foreign Language Standards of Learning (SOL) – At the February 2013, Board of Education meeting, VDOE was authorized to proceed with the Foreign Language Standards of Learning review process. It is anticipated that the review will be completed by May 2014.

Foreign Language Standards of Learning Resources
- Teaching English, and History and Social Science Through Foreign Language
The Virginia Department of Education has completed an initiative to develop foreign language instructional activities with connections to English and/or history and social science. These instructional activities are sample lessons developed by foreign language teachers throughout the commonwealth and are intended to serve as models for various instructional strategies.
