READING DEMONSTRATION ITEMS
Beginning with the fall 2011 test administration, the online Standards of Learning (SOL) tests will be administered using TestNav 7, a revised version of the online testing software used in Virginia. The SOL reading tests have an updated look and a revised presentation of the reading passages.
To help prepare students who will be taking the grade 8 or end-of-course SOL reading tests in fall 2011, previously released SOL reading passages and test items are being provided to school divisions that demonstrate the new TestNav 7 format. The use of these Reading Demonstration Items with students scheduled to take the SOL reading test in fall 2011 is strongly encouraged.
In addition, a presentation has been developed that highlights the changes in formatting and test navigation that students will experience in TestNav 7 beginning in fall 2011.
