RICHMOND, VA – Today, the Virginia Board of Education will receive a briefing on research focused on Virginia’s parents and developing meaningful parental partnership and participation in student success from leaders with the national non-profit Learning Heroes. Joined by Bibb Hubbard, President of Learning Heroes, and Learning Heroes strategic partner Cindi Williams, CEO of Waypoint Education Partners, the Board will receive a briefing on Learning Heroes’ national work on increasing meaningful parental engagement in education, as well as their Virginia-specific work done in partnership with VDOE, working with parents and school principals to develop stronger, more valuable parent resources focused on student assessment results and improving student performance.
The Board is hosting Learning Heroes as part of their National Expert series bringing national leaders in education to participate in discussions at their monthly meetings. Learning Heroes is a nationally recognized leader in working with educational organizations across the nation to develop trusting relationships between families and educators to advance student learning and unlock student potential, school success, and thriving communities. Learning Heroes has done parent mindset-focused research in all 50 states and has the most extensive set of parent-focused findings in the nation.
