Governor Glenn Youngkin appointed Emily Anne Gullickson as Virginia’s superintendent of public instruction on March 14, 2025. Ms. Gullickson serves as the executive officer of the Virginia Department of Education, which is the administrative agency for the commonwealth's public schools, and as secretary of the state Board of Education.
