The Department of Education has announced the Lee-Jackson Scholarship Program sponsored by the Lee-Jackson Foundation of Charlottesville. This scholarship program was announced in Superintendent’s Inf. Memorandum No. 142 dated October 5, 2001, at /administrators/superintendents_memos/2001/inf142.html. All high school juniors and seniors interested in applying must submit their applications and essays to their principals by December 21, 2001. Three $1,000 scholarships will be awarded in each of Virginia’s eight school regions to the juniors or seniors submitting the best essays on the career, character, or other aspects of the life of either General Lee or General Jackson, or both. The application and reporting forms are located on the Lee-Jackson Foundation website at http://www.lee-jackson.org.
