The Virginia Association of Elementary School
Principals (VAESP) and the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) are pleased
to announce that the Annual Assistant
Principals/Lead Teachers Professional Development Conference will be held
March 14-15, 2002, at the Williamsburg Lodge. This conference is designed specifically for assistant
principals and teachers who are responsible for providing leadership. The theme for this conference is "Leaders for Today and Tomorrow".
The keynote speaker will be Dr. Lorraine
Monroe. Dr. Monroe, Founder and
Executive Director of the School Leadership Academy, was the founding principal
of the renowned Frederick Douglass Academy in Central Harlem and is on leave from
Bank Street College of Education. Dr.
Monroe taught graduate courses and founded and directed the Center for Minority
Achievement at Bank Street College.
Concurrent sessions, which will be conducted by
practitioners and VDOE staff members, include the following: Standards of Learning, testing, evaluation,
VDOE updates, leadership, special education law, curriculum and instruction.
As we continue to provide the best possible
professional development opportunities for principals and teachers of Virginia,
we hope that you will join us in Williamsburg on March 14-15, 2002, for this
outstanding conference.
