Technical
Assistance Document and DOE Hour Broadcast on Graduation Requirements for the
Standard Diploma |
The Department of Education has recently released a technical assistance document on sample courses of study that satisfy high school graduation requirements for the Standard Diploma. A DOE Hour related to this document will also be broadcast on April 25, 2002, at 2 p.m.
The document
may be downloaded prior to the broadcast at /administrators/superintendents_memos/2002/inf048a.pdf.
Viewers may also wish to review Superintendents Memorandum, Informational
Number 48, dated March 29, 2002, at /administrators/superintendents_memos/2002/inf048.html
that contains additional information.
The document and broadcast will be beneficial to school personnel who
work with middle and high school students in planning their four-year courses
of study. Suggestions will be made on how to develop and monitor a course of
study for students that meets the content course requirements and requirements
for standard and verified credits.
The attachment to this memorandum contains planning templates that may prove
useful in designing and monitoring individual courses of study for the Standard
and Advanced Studies Diplomas.
The broadcast
will be a companion to, not a replacement of, an earlier DOE Hour on Standards of Accreditation (SOA)
Implications for Guidance Counselors that was broadcast in January 2002.
Further discussion will occur on the following topics that have been addressed
in recent Superintendents Memoranda.
You may wish to download this information prior to the broadcast.
