Governors Summer Residential Programs |
The Virginia
Department of Education is pleased to announce the application process for the
2003 Governors Summer Residential Programs.
Superintendents Informational Memo #136, released on October 4, 2002,
offers students in public school divisions and private schools, as well as
home-schooled students, an opportunity to apply for any one of the six
Governors Foreign Language Academies or the seven Summer Residential
Governors Schools. A list of important
dates associated with 2003 programs may be accessed at the following Web
address: /administrators/superintendents_memos/2002/inf136a.pdf. The 2003 Summer Residential Governors Schools
applications and other supporting documents may be accessed at the following

As in previous
years, school divisions are allocated a specific number of nominees for the
various programs. The school divisions
gifted education coordinator is the designated contact person for all local
decisions and should indicate the dates for intra-divisional activities
associated with the selection of nominees.
Nominations
for the Governors Foreign Language Academies are due to the Department of
Education by January 15, 2003.
