Regional
Training for English Teachers |
The Virginia
Department of Education will conduct one-day training sessions in July and
August for middle and high school English teachers. This action was communicated to division superintendents in
Supts. Informational Memo No. 91 dated May 23, 2003. This professional development activity will be held in five
regions throughout the state, and is entitled, Using the Electronic Practice
Assessment Tool (ePAT) for Remediation.
Teachers will be given tips and strategies for incorporating this online
tutorial into instruction. The dates
and locations for training are:

July 14, 2003
Abingdon High School Abingdon
July 17, 2003
Christiansburg High School Montgomery July 18, 2003
Liberty High School Fauquier
July 31, 2003
There is no cost
for the training. Participants are
encouraged to register for sessions in their region, as travel and lodging
expenses will not be reimbursed. Registration forms can be found in the Supts.
Memo No.91. Participating teachers will
receive a stipend for their attendance.
Certificates of attendance will be given to those who complete the
workshop.
