Washington Teacher Institute July 21-22,

George
Washingtons Mount Vernon: Estate and
Gardens is pleased to announce that reservations are now being accepted for the
fifth annual George Washington Teachers Institute. History and social science K-12 teachers from Virginia, Maryland,
and Washington, D.C. are invited to attend this institute on July 21-22,
2003. Virginia teachers may attend this
program free of charge, but reservations are required. Reservations need to be made by Monday, July
7, 2003.
Topics to be
discussed include Washington the Leader,
Washingtons Political Career,
Interpreting the Constitution, Washingtons Military Career, Washingtons
Business Culture, Slavery in the 18th Century, and Songs and Stories of Slavery: Teaching African American History. All participating teachers will receive a
packet of educational materials.
Participating teachers are also invited to attend a special tour and
reception to be held on the Piazza and will receive lunch vouchers for both days.
