Principals' Memo #1014-13

Department of Education

October 29, 2013

TO:  Principals

FROM:  Linda M. Wallinger, Assistant Superintendent for Instruction

SUBJECT:  Stakeholder Input on Statewide Data Needs Assessment

The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) and the Center for Innovative Technology (CIT) are conducting a statewide needs assessment to determine the data practices, requirements, and needs of Virginia’s school divisions.  The statewide needs assessment will employ multiple methods of soliciting input from a variety of stakeholders including educators, administrators, central office personnel, parents, policymakers, state personnel, university contacts and others via workgroup meetings, one-on-one interviews, and online surveys. A key component of this process is a series of workgroup meetings where stakeholders will learn more about the process and provide feedback that will serve as the foundation in the development of an action plan for how VDOE will support the divisions with regards to their data needs.
