Correction to Informational Supts. Memo. No. 1 Comparison
of State Aid Allocations 1995-96 to 1996-97 as Proposed |
Via Supts. Memo. No. 1 (Informational), dated January 5, 1996, I sent to you an analysis which provided a comparison of state aid projected for 1995-96 and for 1996-97 as proposed by the Governor. This analysis provided both dollar and per pupil allocations. Due to an oversight, this chart did not include the technology funds for elementary libraries and networking which you are receiving in 1995-96. Attached you will find a corrected chart which more accurately reflects the increases from 1995-96 to 1996-97. As you will see, on a statewide basis, an increase of $143 per student is provided in the Governor's Budget as introduced. Only nine localities are experiencing a decrease in per pupil aid, primarily due to increases in the local composite index or significant decreases in special education student counts. I apologize for this error and will take steps to ensure that the revised information is provided to those individuals who received the original analysis. I hope that you will be able to use this revised chart to assist you in analyzing the Governor's Budget as introduced. If you have questions or need additional information, please call Mrs. Kathryn S. Kitchen, Division Chief, Finance, at (804) 225-2025.
