SUBJECT: Medicaid Billing for Special Education Services`

  
     We have received inquiries from school divisions about
  contractual arrangements with private firms to provide
  medicaid billing for special education services.  Barbara
  Hickey, the School/Community Health Services Grant Specialist,
  has been designated by the Department to provide technical
  assistance to school divisions regarding the Medicaid billing
  program.  Ms. Hickey is available for consultation if you are
  considering such an arrangement.
  
     Further, the Departments of Education and Medical
  Assistance Services sponsor training each year to provide the
  information necessary to establish a Medicaid billing program
  for special education services.  May 9, 1996 has been
  tentatively set as the date for this year's training. 
  Additional information about the training will be provided at
  a later date.
  
     Please feel free to call Ms. Hickey at (804) 441-1471 if
  you have questions about medicaid billing procedures,
