SUPTS. MEMO. NO. 66
March 22, 1996 |
TO: | Division Superintendents |
FROM: | William C. Bosher, Jr.
Superintendent of Public Instruction |
SUBJECT: | 1994-95 Vocational Education Data |
The Vocational Education Standards of Quality (SOQ) account provides funding for the state share of the salary cost for the required Vocational Education SOQ teachers calculated above the basic standards. The number of required Vocational education teachers included in the 1996-98 SOQ budget was calculated based on information provided by local school divisions from the 1994-95 school year on the Vocational Education Reporting System (VERS). It has come to our attention that some school divisions have reported incorrectly a small portion of this information. We are reviewing the 1994-95 information submitted to us to determine what corrections need to be made. Corrections may result in an adjustment to the Vocational Education SOQ funds allocated for your school division. We are aware, however, that most school divisions are in the final stages of developing their 1996-97 budgets. Therefore, no adjustments will be made to the 1996-97 Vocational Education SOQ accounts. We plan to complete our review of the 1994-95 Vocational Education data in March. At that time, we will share with you any required changes to your 1994-95 data and the corresponding modification to your 1997-98 Vocational Education state payments. Questions about this process may be addressed to James Gray at (804) 225-2833 or Lee Ross at (804) 225-2828. Questions concerning your 1996-98 Vocational Education SOQ accounts may be addressed to John Rickman at (804) 225-2806. WCBJr:jbr
