SUBJECT: | Federal Program Review of the School Nutrition Programs |
According to the Code of Federal Regulations 7, Section 210.18 the Department of Education is required to conduct an administrative review of the accountability of the school breakfast and lunch programs in each school food authority (school division) once every five years. The purpose of the reviews is to determine compliance with required regulations, standards, state, and federal laws. For your information, the schedule for the next five years is attached. A tentative schedule for School Year 1997-98 also is attached. School divisions scheduled for next year should review the dates and advise the School Nutrition Programs Office of any conflicts due to holidays, scheduled breaks, or examination schedules by June 15, 1997. Orientations to the review process for school nutrition program central office personnel are scheduled September 11 and 12 in Richmond and Radford.
