SUBJECT: | Grant Applications for Programs Involving Homeless Children and Youth |
Enclosed is the 1997-99 proposal package to be used for applying for funding under the Stewart B. McKinney Education for Homeless Children and Youth program authorized by the Stewart B. McKinney Homeless Assistance Act, as amended September 28, 1994. Programs will be approved for the two year grant period, however, funds will be allocated on a yearly basis pending continued funding at the federal level. Only one proposal is necessary for the two year grant period. Grant awards are provided for direct services to ensure the enrollment, attendance, and success of homeless children and youth in school. Grants will continue to be awarded on a competitive basis. Dr. James Stronge, at the College of William and Mary, is the State Coordinator for the Education of Homeless Children and Youth. Questions regarding the grant or the application process should be referred to Dr. Stronge or Pamela Tucker, Program Administrator, (757) 221-4002. Local school divisions that wish to compete for funds should return a completed application proposal following the format outlined in the attached Proposal Packet.
