SUPTS. MEMO. NO. 38
June 6, 1997 |
TO: | Division Superintendents |
FROM: | Richard T. La Pointe
Superintendent of Public Instruction |
SUBJECT: | Technology Training |
Over the last several years, we have been extremely fortunate in the amount of energy and money invested in putting technology into our K-12 schools. These resources have enabled us to automate our libraries, begin networking our schools, greatly improve our student to computer ratio, and put us on the road to full connectivity with the Information Superhighway. Now, as a next step in increasing our skills with these new technologies, we want to ensure that training opportunities are available to school personnel. In a few days, the attached survey will be sent to your technology coordinators. The purpose of this survey is to help us develop insight into the scope of technology training required and how that training might best be provided. We hope to use compilations and summaries of this information for legislative reports, to determine training needs statewide, and to meet goals in state and local technology plans. Please return this survey to Joe Aulino by July 1, 1997. You can fax your answers to (804) 371-8978 or mail your forms to: Joe Aulino Director Management Information Systems Virginia Department of Education PO Box 2120 Richmond, VA 23218-2120 Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact Mr. Aulino at 804-225-2941 or via e-mail at jaulino@pen.k12.va.us RTL/dmb Attachment: A hard copy of this memo and its attachment will be sent to the superintendent's office.
