INFORMATIONAL

  The enclosed publication, entitled Mediation and School
  Services Conflicts, is a revision of a booklet published in
  1992 by the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE).  This
  publication covers a range of topics to include the
  applications of mediation services to various types of
  school conflicts, strategies for serving and effectively
  using services, and sources of more information on the
  management of school disputes.

  We are sending several copies of the mediation booklet so
  that you can give this publication to your Directors of
  Special Education and Pupil Personnel Services.  Also, a
  booklet has been mailed under separate cover to Parent
  Resource Center staffs.  

  Finally, coinciding with the mailing of this booklet, the
  VDOE has placed a list of Regional Mediation Services on the
  VDOE homepage; URL is http:\\www.pen.k12.va.us\go\VDOE. 
  This list identifies the mediators in Virginia willing to
  help disputants resolve school services conflicts.
