Enclosed please find accreditation certificates for the individual schools in your division. These certificates are valid for the 1996-98 accrediting cycle that will end June 30, 1998. Procedures for accrediting schools for subsequent cycles will be determined at a later date. As you know, the Board of Education tentatively approved amendments to the proposed Regulations Establishing Standards for Accrediting Public Schools in Virginia at its meeting on June 11. I am also enclosing a copy of the amended proposal and a summary of substantive changes to the document published in the March 17 edition of the Virginia Register. The Board will be holding additional public hearings in July. The times, dates, and locations of the hearings have not been finalized. Notification will be made as soon as possible.
