SUBJECT: | Governor Allen Announces Virginia's Award of $2.8 Million |
The attached news release from the Office of the Governor announces Virginia's award of a $2.8 million Technology Literacy Challenge Fund Grant for FY 96 from the U.S. Department of Education. This award qualifies Virginia for future annual Literacy Challenge Fund Grants. Plans are underway to provide grant applications and other information to school divisions this summer. The Technology Literacy Challenge Fund program is designed to assist with the integration of technology into teaching and learning to help ensure that all students are technologically literate by the 21st Century. The focus of the program in Virginia is teacher training and software to support teacher training.
