SUBJECT: | 1997-1998 Standards of Learning Incentive Grant |
The General Assembly's appropriations for basic aid include $6,191,404 to be taken from the general fund during the second year of the biennium for one-time incentive payments to school divisions to assist them in implementing the Standards of Learning. Payments to school divisions shall be based on the state share of $10 per student in adjusted average daily membership and shall be paid to any school division that certifies to the Department of Education that such funds will be used to support the implementation of the Standards of Learning. Such certification shall include a plan or description of the purposes for which the funds will be used. Localities receiving these incentive payments are required to match these funds based on the composite index of local ability-to-pay. If you have questions, please contact Dr. DeMary at (804) 225-3252. RTL/vlw Enclosure: A hard copy of this memo and its enclosure will be sent to the superintendent's office.
